Royal Basin, Olympic National Forest

Page 3

Journal entry September 2000.

A tiny hill along the trail becomes a good rest stop.

We eventually run out of trail.  Below we've dropped our packs to poke around to find the best ascent for the ridge.  Well I haven't dropped mine just yet.

Separated we find a better route than Dave and Mike (the little tiny specs below).  From the top now we yell at them to guide them up.

Looking North from the ridge at a spire whose name I've forgotten.  Climbers like it alot.

Looking back the way we came.  Notice the pretty turquoise lakes in Royal Basin?

Mt. Cruiser, a neighbor at our altitude.

The moon rises over Cruiser a few hours later.

A flash photo of our night camp as we unwind.

Mike just outside of camp the next day.

My upstaging Dave aside, you can see the ridge we climbed the day before to the right of the picture.  The high altitude shots at the top of this page were from the saddle of this ridge
