Curt’s
Corner is a periodic movie review written by Curt Burbach of Clackamas, Oregon
Hostage:
This
was pretty much just another Bruce Willis action film with plenty of shooting
and death. There really wasn’t anything special about it. Wait for it to come
out on DVD. I give it two bones out
of four, just being average.

The Flight of the Phoenix:
This is a remake of the 1965 version starring Jimmy Stewart. And amazingly, unlike so many remakes going on in today’s world, this one actually follows the original story line very closely. I was impressed by that. However, it was still just average. Two bones. I’m glad I waited for the rental release.
The Final Cut:
This was film that had an Outer Limits flair to it, which I appreciated very much. But that was about all I liked. It stars Robin Williams in yet another dramatic roll. But overall, it’s just average. I give it two bones for the unique story line.
Bridget
Jones’s Diary:
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason:
My review these two films are the same. So, here goes – Chick flicks, a few laughs, just average, two bones. Rene Zellweger is way too good of an actress to be doing this kind of stuff.
Vera Drake:
This film was nominated for three Oscars at the last Academy Awards, to include best original screenplay, and Imelda Staunton for best actress. It takes place in London during 1950, and addresses an important social issue, and how it is responded to by society. Serious movie watchers will like it. I give it 2 ½ bones.
Closer:
This film was a depiction of immorality and deception. It plays very much on many of today’s attitudes toward sex and personal relationships. However, this movie is definitely not a chick flick. I’m not sure where the title comes from. I give it two bones for being average. It’s very good for creating discussion amongst viewers.
Note:
I’ve already reviewed Hotel Rwanda in a previous release. But I wanted let everyone know that it’s now available on DVD and to re-iterate that everyone should watch this important film, to include most of the support material that is on the DVD. It’s a darn shame this wasn’t nominated for best picture.
(I added the bones to the above note for a joke. Just seeing if you're paying attention! ~Russ)
