King Kong

It was fun and exciting. It has some action scenes and chase scenes that will be remembered for all time as classics. The special affects and filming were wonderful. As too were the acting, editing and writing. Even the music was right on the mark. This film was made by Peter Jackson, who made all the Lord of the Ring movies, so it’s no wonder that this film is over three hours long, because the guy just went all out. The producer and director normally are working at a disadvantage when remaking an old classic because the audience already knows the basic outline. Yet, Jackson and his people took it one step further and did a fantastic job. I can’t see how one could make a better King Kong film. I give it 3 ½ bones out of four for being very good.

Syriana

Unless you have been paying attention to world news and middle-eastern affairs, this film will be confusing to you, because it’s definitely for the informed viewer. It’s pretty good at depicting some of the typical behind-closed-doors, wheeling and dealing of the overseas oil industry and internal Arab politics. It’s fairly good at typifying and summarizing the attitudes of the American people, the Arabs and big business industry, but in a fictitious way, of course. We can only relate to this story, we can’t declare it absolutely true. If you are an informed viewer, you may appreciate this one. If you’re not, I recommend you don’t spend  your time. I give it 2 ½ bones for being above average.

Just Friends

This film was just another run-of-the-mill, holiday feel good movie that wasn’t very good at all. I think I could have written a better script myself. I highly recommend you don’t waste your time with this one. I give it one bone for being poor.

Speak

This is an independent film that was made for TV and came out in 2004. It addresses the psychological need for women to speak out after suffering sexual abuse. I found it rather interesting and I give it 2 ½ bones for being above average.
