The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (a.k.a. LXG)

I had high hopes for this one. The characters that they employed should have made for a fun environment. Yet, there was something a little boring and uninteresting about this one. It's as if the editors (or someone else) worked on the film too much. They tried too hard to put too much into it.  By the way, special effects via computer graphics (CG) don't impress me all that much anymore. I find it's like animation, where you can make anything happen. I found this movie to be average and therefore give it two bones out of four.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

This film is not going to win any awards, but it's still fun, which are what swashbucklers are for. I found Johnny Depp's lead character a little hard to like at first, but by the time it was over, I really liked him. I was sad that it was over and wanted to see more adventures with Capt. Jack Sparrow. This is going to be a big boost to Depp's career. It also had an interesting blend of CG and real people. I give it three bones. Bones, now that's applicable in this case!

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (a.k.a. T3)

I liked this one more than Terminator 2. Naturally, there was an ample supply of destructive action. But I think Hollywood is moving in a direction where action films need much more sophisticated story lines in order to be really successful (i.e. Matrix). T3 reflects this. I found myself wanting to see more of the ongoing and developing saga, which has even more appeal for the movie producers (squeals abound). I rate this one at three bones.

Seabiscuit

This is a very good film. I think it should nominated for best picture of the year, and remembered as one of the years best. I just love how it was made, both the cinematography and the direction. Plus, I really enjoyed how they blended in the taste of a historical documentary. The actors will probably get some Oscar nominations as well. I highly recommend it, and give it four bones, as it is the best movie I've seen so far in 2003. It was so very well made.........

American Wedding

I haven't seen a comedy this funny in a very long time. Take all your laughs from the first American Pie movie and combine them with all your laughs from the second, and that's how much you will laugh at this one. This film is sure to put you in happy mood by the time it’s done. I give it three and a half bones.

Phone Booth

I appreciate the message they were trying to get across in this one, but nevertheless it was still average. Two bones.

Just Married

Don't waste your time. (My kids rented it). One bone.
