Blackfoot River, Montana (page 2)
Journal entry July 22nd 2005, 9:05 PM. Another great photo of a rapid about to be assaulted. You can see it gets real technical down there someplace where all those rocks are. Looks pretty calm in the photo, eh? Well it ain't.
Here's randy running that rock garden. Looks like a blast doesn't' it? It is when Moss is on it. We dodged out in a little eddy so I could get this shot. It's a little blurry as the light is fading and I only had the one chance. It's a beautiful spot too, another advantage of running rivers is the great scenery.
Trav and I pull out and I snapped this real quick. It was the top of the mild class II so I took a chance and leaned back in the boat (the original picture is upside-down) and there's Trav, ruddering and making me do all the work. Except I wasn't, I put my paddle down to get the pic. Nice farmers tan there Trav.
Evening falls along the Blackfoot.
We break in this serene little spot.
Trav finished up in the solo and Randy and I took the tandem. Here's Travis attempting to stand upright after a couple of hours of kneeling. It can take some getting used to if you normally are a sit and switch paddler. This is a good shot of the bagged out interior of the solo.
Randy's securing everything for the trip home. With bags, the boat needs to be readied to be upside-down on the roof of the car.
Here's the flat water boat rack back at the Moss-Glassgow hacienda . Everything's in Kevlar, (from top right to left) a Wenonah C1-W, a mixed cruiser, an old Wenonah Advantage, and a Jensen 18 (I think) on the bottom left...Randy might need to set me straight on that last one.
The day after, in front of the Moss-Glassgow hacienda, Travis and I prepare to return to Oregon with his Kevlar Odyssey. Notice the Ford wagon we were chasing parked there in front of us? So long Montana, we'll be back as soon as we can!!!
