Old Snowy

Journal entry September 2010, Rainier National Park, Washington State USA.  

Off we go, starting out on a dirt road at something close to 200 miles per hour at some ungodly hour of the morning.  Really we slept in and had a great breakfast first.  Speeds were probably legal but try to capture that with a 4 megapixel camera.  It's just not as much fun and the little pictures I snap from a moving vehicle always look like I'm in a rocket reentering the atmosphere anyway so why not roll with it? 

We start out on an overcast day heading up a forest track:

Crossing the mighty improved bridge on the trail freeway:

 The view as we gain some altitude:

Talking over the world's issues on the trail at first break:

Coming up to the Snowgrass Trail intersection amid the scrub pines:

 

Heading up to the first ridge and larger meadows:

 

We stop at another intersection and talk about the map for a bit:

 

The weather clears enough for us to see the trail ahead:
