Journal entry; a Monday morning in August, 2006.
Paddle Oregon 2006 is off. We have the usual launch festivities, shuttling, dividing up into pods, safety talks and organizing for stops. Above you can see the launch at about mid-morning. This is where the fun finally begins Below Don signals approval shortly after launching as Bob grows accustom to his new boat in the background.

Here's a self portrait looking stern with my pod behind me. This was not a stern affair really (as you can tell by the lei), it was just hard for me to hold the camera, paddle and concentrate on the shot at the same time. Don't try this at home!
Cruising through the stretches below Albany Oregon. Below right is Don (another Don) and his grandson. First names only here to protect the innocent.
My pod turned out to be mostly kayaks. So I'm in a canoe of course.
Zooming ahead a little I turn and snap a picture looking upstream. This is just below Irish Bend if you would care to consult your river guide.
