John Day River

Journal entry; Saturday May 20, 2006, John Day River. Jen's all loaded. You can see Travis is actually carrying a good amount of gear. He was paddling a fiberglass Wenonah Rendezvous. Wenonah later changed the design of this boat to be made out of Royalex and added a little more freeboard to the design. Even though, Trav found this hull remarkably dry and very well suited to the task.
Finally all loaded.
Jen takes off first since she's carrying everything. Well just about everything...
Here's Trav dropping a small rapid
Awhile later, rolling along the river. The river flow was so high that much of the hazards were submerged.
Here's Jen in a bigger rapid.
And we roll out onto a calm stretch with a beautiful butte jutting up into the clouds ahead of us.
That's a mountain? Take me back to Home
