Journal entry May 7th 2000, 12:05 PM. looking back up the channel where we took a break toward Sand Island and St. Helens, Oregon .
Out of the channel we head on down toward the defunct Trojan nuclear reactor.
Chop starts to build up. I had rented a Necky, Zoar for the trip from a kayak shop called "Ebb and Flow". It was a great boat, a littel slow, but it had the capacity I wanted. Ebb and Flow (sadly) went out of business in 2004.
Tyee conked out on the beach. We had a little sun and were taking advantage of it as best we could. The boat in the background was my boat, a Current Designs "Storm". An awesome boat, still in production, it was actually a plastic layout of the popular Current Designs "Soltice" one of my favorite all around kayaks of all time.
Here's was a picture taken from Tyee's perspective as he lay on the beach. Where's that sun dude?
They're about to demolish this old cooling tower. This prompted me to dig out these old pictures and post them. This was once Trojan Nuclear reactor, employing hundreds of people in and around Rainier, Oregon.
Chop builds up as we race to the shore before the weather goes totally bad.
In a little bay under the protection of the Trojan peninsula. A beautiful little spot.
Looking back as Tyee catches up. It's calm for a moment.
A break at Prescott Beach Park.
It's too cloudy here, go back to Home
